Ch Ch Ch Changes....

Its a miserable day here in the New Forest, so I have decided to change the website around...which is proving very frustrating, as this website designer seems to crash all the time! However, hopefully the site will be easier to use when I have finished, and there will be many more products in the shop...if I haven't thrown the laptop out of the window in frustration grrrr!!

I will also update the craft fairs page  - lots of fairs coming up for spring and summer.

I  have a close association with a very local bead shop...CJ beaders in Highcliffe, as my husband is now working for them part time :-)....they are a very large shop, a little out of the way in Riverside Drive but well worth seeking out, lots of beads, findings, wire etc etc...and they also have an online shop, at www.cjbeaders.co.uk . If you give them a ring on Monday or Friday it'll probably be my lovely husband who answers the phone!

I am very pleased to say that I have my first celebrity customer...however because of other endorsment commitments, she cannot allow a pic of her wearing my earrings on my site ...booo. However, she used to be in a well known girl band that included Lousie Redknapp, and is now a successful agent! I'm so thrilled...

Commissions are still coming in, and I'm just waiting for some wire to finish a tiara for a wedding customer..if you would like me to design a tiara for your wedding, please get in touch!

Sterling silver continues to rise in price, so I have been wondering about creating a diffusion line using silver plate, however I'm very pleased to discover that a new wire is now available...it's called silver filled, and like the gold filled wire I use its NOT plate, it's many times thicker than plate, being a thick layer of silver bonded to a thin brass core. This makes it as durable as silver, but cheaper, so I shall be investigating this as soon as possible. Unfortunately my prices are going to have to rise soon, as I can't keep absorbing the price rises, so if you want anything...now's the time!

honestly...

I'm rubbish at keeping this up aren't I?! Anyway., done a lot of craft fairs over the summer, ran another successful workshop at Ringwood Library this month...with two more improvers classes booked for March 2011...:-)

I'm just experimenting with a lovely weave for bracelets, studded with pretty freshwater pearls...I'm obsessed with pearls at the moment!  I'm also making more rings, and am about to start making brooches...watch this space...

Got Lyndhurst craft fair tomorrow..as well as jewellery, I sell unusual "boa"woven feathery wool scarves, smooth and creamy fudge, and truffles. I have started another  little company, Tiptoe Fudge Co., and will be linking this site to the new one when I've finished building it.

I'm also doing a lot of merchandising and field marketing at the moment...I kind of fell inot it and it helps fund my bead and wire habit....:-)

Gotta go...I'm knitting too now, and have written a slouchy beret pattern I need to try out....!!

Wire workshops!

Yay!! Did some wire jewellery workshops for our local libraries and the feedback was brilliant! I taught basic wireworking skills, talked about tools, and had plenty of practise beads and wire available..they went away with a pair of earrings made with sterling silver wire, and they were so pleased with themselves!

I have been asked to do another few workshops in the Autumn :-). Don't forget, if you would like to have me come and do a home workshop, just gather up to 5 friends, clear enough space on a table and book a date. The workshops are three hours long, and you get to make an item of sterling silver jewellery..All for just £20 a head.

In other news, we are auditioning a new actor for our forum theatre piece for the NHS..this is for our other business, Leaping Deer Learning and Development. We have had over 45 replies to our advert, so we have to sift through and choose 10/12 to invite to a workshop in the village hall. Exciting to be on the other side of the fence!

Now that jewellery making is my business, I've taken up a hobby...knitting! I'm not very good, but I do find it relaxing to do in front of the TV at night. Mind you, I have just got a knitting machine off freecycle which is possibly a step too far......:-)...I'd like to learn to crochet too.....

Off to sort out my jewellery for the Lyndhurst craft fair this Thursday...

NEW DATES ON THE EVENTS PAGE!!

Yes..I have finally got round to updating the website a bit  - for some reason updating this site is a flippin' nightmare...every so often it refuses to do anything at all!

I have updated the events page and will be adding to this when the website lets me..and I have also managed to put up a small shop...just a few items in it atm but hopefully I can add more soon.

Please have a look at it...there is a lovely murano glass heart pendant that when I put it up on facebook and another forum garnered me several commissions..:-) I currently have these hearts in green, silver and blue, and also in a small flatter heart I have a rainbow fluorite heart,a carnelian heart and a light amethyst  heart and  in a slightly larger size,  two puffy cats eye hearts in purple and pink!  Iwrap these in either sterling silver or gold square wire...I love square wire!

I have two exciting events happening in May...I shall be running half day workshops at Lymington and Ringwood Libraries, teaching basic wireworking. You will be able to make an item of silver jewellery to take away. Ringwood is on May 12th 10.00am -1.00 pm, and Lymington is on 19th May 1.30pm- 4.00pm. Places are limited so do contact the libraies to book: Lymington is 01590673272 and Ringwood is 01424 474255. The sessions will cost £20.00 which includes all materials and refreshments.

My M.E.(I was diagnosed in the autumn) seems to be getting a little better - I don't crash quite so often, and have even managed a few walks recently...:-) Wedid an acting job in Birmingham last week, and I did collapse after that..my husband said I disappeared! However I recovered within 24 hours so that is a definite improvement.

I now go to a singing club with my Mum on a Friday morning..Mum is in the early stages of (possible) dementia and I go to support her...however I really enjoy it, and I "may" have a job with another training company to do with corporate singing, which I will try out on the ladies and gents at the club! Watch this space....

Right....now to do battle with the website once again....or maybe give up and watch a few episodes of "Voyager"...oh yes, not so closet Trekker me....:-)

Don't forget  to book your place on the workshops....and please have a look at the new things on the site :-)

Hello everyone

Well, not succeeding in keeping this up to date unfortunately..I have been rather unwell of late, with a mystery illness which sometimes stops me from working as much as I would like....however it seems to be under control now, and I am racing ahead with orders, commissions and craft fairs!

I was pleased to be contacted today by Sway Manor (a posh restaurant and hotel very near me) , who are having a wedding fair this Sunday,11th September. Although the table was a lot more than I usually pay at the local craft fairs, I was assured that I would not be out of pocket so decided to give it a go. I didnt ask him where he had got my name from though...duh! He had my address as well twhich is not on the site, so perhaps he had a card? I'll find out this afternoon when I pop in to pay...

Ive also been asked to create some "awen" pendants if I can, so every spare minute I am working on designs for these...Awen is the universal energy and has a very distinctive design associated with it, so I'm having fun with that.

I have yet more lovely beads from Rowanberry Glass Art to play with too...yummy!

I need to make some more tiaras, and also pearl and crystal wedding jewellery, but I'm out visiting my mum tonight, craft fair tommorrow morning...so Saturday afternoon it'll be all systems go!

Some of you may know that I am an actor by profession, and also run a company called Leaping Deer which produces forum theatre..well  we have been asked to act  in and facilitate a national tour for another company in October which is great...two weeks on the road for me and three for my husband and business partner! Wonder where we are going......:)

The rainbow hematite earrings are very popular on my craft stall...I will have order some more beads from the states soon, as I can't get exactly what I want in the UK.

Ok there is the postie (yes we live in the sticks so the post comes in the middle of the afternoon!) so must go...please visit the fairs this weekend if you are local to Lymington, Sway or New Milton!

hello folks

Hiya..Im going to try and find the time to keep this blog updated on a regular basis..I haven't been very good at this but I hope to do better!

I have decided to put some tiaras and wedding jewellery up on the site....I have been doing these for ages, but did not inculde them on the site, as most of the things I do are completely bespoke. However, I thought it might be useful to start putting some of the designs I have been asked to make up on the site, and also some off the peg designs. I'm happy to work to your own designs though, so if you have something in mind please get in touch.  I usually have a chat with you either face to face or via the phone or email, and then produce sketches of your ideas. When you are entirely happy I will make up your design. I can just about do any thing you desire..colours and designs are entirely up to you. I know how important having exactly what you want is..I designed my own headress for my wedding three years ago!

I'm so happy to be able to create pendants using beautiful hand made lampwork beads...Claire Morris of Rowanberry Glass Art makes exquisite lampwork beads, which I feel privileged to have the chance to turn into unique pendants. Do have a look in the gallery...

I hope to have a paypal shop up here very soon...having a little difficulty geting it organised but hopefully the problems will be ironed out soon!

Until the next time..
